So... What goes on at a retreat?

Do you sit and pray all the time on a retreat?

Prayer is certainly an important part of the retreat,

but only a small part. There is also time to talk, meet

new friends, play, eat and, of course, sleep!

Are retreats required for Confirmation?

Yes. The Archdiocese of Indianapolis requires all

teenagers to attend an overnight retreat before they

are Confirmed. This is their way of making a statement

about how important retreats are as part of our

faith journey.

Why should I go on a retreat?

It might just be the best thing you’ve ever done ... no

joke! Not only does a retreat offer a chance to look at

your relationship with God, it’s a time to relax, have

fun, meet people and unload the pressures and stress

in your life. It really is a great opportunity!

Can a friend who isn’t Catholic

attend a retreat?

Yes! Nearly every retreat has one or more teenagers

who aren’t Catholic. We welcome everyone with

open arms. Some of our worship services, such as

Mass and sacraments, are traditionally Catholic but

your friends are invited to participate.

Will my parish pay part of the retreat fee?

Most parishes in the deanery offer to pay a portion

of the retreat cost. Check with your youth ministry

coordinator for more information. Remember, if your

parish pays for part of your retreat experience, a

thank you is always appreciated.

part of the high school experience.

Senior Retreat November 17-20, 2005

February 16-19, 2006

In Search of God March 11-12, 2006

including those who have already attended a retreat

increase the awareness of

God in our midst.
