Those children who were baptized as infants and have attained the use of reason and have been prepared and celebrated the sacrament of Penance are to be prepared to recieve the sacrament of First Eucharist.
All children will be offered the opportunity to celebrate the sacrament of Penance prior to reception of First Eucharist.
In this Parish the Sacramental Preparation for First Eucharist is theThird Grade
The preparation and reception of the Sacrament is from September until May.
Home schooled, Catholic schooled or Parish schooled will all come together during the regular Faith Formation time on Sunday mornings to begin the sacramental process. We will come together for a Saturday morning retreat and practice. They then will celebrate the sacrament at a chosen scheduled Parish Liturgy.
The pastor along with the parents and catechist, are to determine the readiness of the child to participate in the sacrament.
Since the sacrament of Penance and Eucharist are distinct sacraments, preparation for each is to be seperate.
"While they were eating, Jesus took bread, said the blessing, broke it and giving it to his disciples siad, "Take and eat; this is my body."
Then he took a cup, gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, "Drink from it, all of you, for this is my blood of the covenant, which will be shed on behalf of many for the forgiveness of sins."
