Those Children who were baptized as infants and have attained the use of reason are to be prepared to celebrate the Sacrament of Confession/Penance/Reconciliation prior to receiving First Eucharist.
All Children will be offered the opportunity to celebrate the sacraemnt of Confession/Penance/Reconciliation prior to reception of First Eucharist.
In this parish children are prepared to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation during their second grade year.
The preparation of the Sacrament of Reconciliatin is conducted during Faith Formation on Sunday mornings during the second grade year.
The pastor, along with the parents and catechist(s) of the child are to determine the readiness of the child to participate in the Sacrament.
How to receive the Sacrament
As you make the sign of the cross you say, "Bless me Father for I have sinned this is my first confession".
Tell your sins to the priest...
At conclusion Say, "for these and all my sins I am sorry".
Father will ask you to say the Act of Contrition:
My God, I am sorry for my sins with all my heart in choosing to do wrong and failing to do good. I have sinned against you whom I should love above all things. I firmly intend, with your help, to do penance, to sin no more, and to avoid what ever leads me to sin. Amen
